Meet the Cats at Our Adoption Event
Most adopters begin their journey by meeting our cats in person at our Saturday adoption events at Greenbrier PetSmart. This is the perfect opportunity to:
🐾 Interact with multiple cats to find the best match for your home
💬 Talk to our adoption team and learn about each cat’s personality
📋 Get information about the adoption process and next steps
📍 Where? Greenbrier PetSmart, 1236 Greenbrier Pkwy, Chesapeake, VA
📅 When? Every Saturday from 12:30pm to 5:00pm
💡 Tip: If you’re interested in a specific cat, let us know before the event to confirm their attendance!

Fill Out an Adoption Application
Once you’ve met a cat (or a few!) that you connect with, the next step is to complete an adoption application. This helps us learn more about your home, lifestyle, and what you’re looking for in a feline companion. Our application includes questions about:
✔ Your experience with cats
✔ Your household setup (children, other pets, etc.)
✔ Whether you rent or own your home (landlord permission may be required for renters)
✔ Your expectations for your new pet
This information helps us ensure the best possible match between you and your future cat.

Once you submit your application, our team will carefully review it. We may reach out with follow-up questions or to clarify details. If needed, we’ll schedule a phone or video interview to go over everything and ensure the adoption is the right fit for both you and the cat.

If your application is approved, we’ll go over the final paperwork, including:
✔ Adoption agreement (outlining care requirements)
✔ Medical history, vaccination records, and microchip details
✔ Transition tips and resources to help your new cat settle in
Adoption Fees: The adoption fee helps cover the cost of vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, microchipping, and veterinary care. Fees vary depending on age, medical history, and special needs.

Bringing Your Cat Home & Helping Them Adjust
Your new cat may need some time to adjust to their new home. Before you leave with your new furry friend, our team will personally go over important transition tips, including:
🏡 Introducing Your Cat to Their New Home – Creating a safe space and allowing gradual exploration
🍲 Diet & Nutrition – What food they’ve been eating and how to make any changes gradually
🐾 Litter Box Habits – Best placement, types of litter, and troubleshooting common issues
💖 Helping Nervous or Shy Cats Adjust – Signs of stress, how to help them feel comfortable, and when to give them space
We also offer post-adoption support, so if you have any questions or concerns after bringing your new cat home, our team is here to help!
